JFK’s Fourth Grade Artists

Fourth grade artists at John F. Kennedy Elementary School are exploring color, composition and creativity through a study of “Cat and Bird” by Paul Klee. Under the direction of art teacher Mrs. Dougherty, students are using oil pastels to thoughtfully explore and separate warm and cool colors within their compositions. As they work, students are encouraged to experiment with blending hues and layering color, expanding their artistic palettes and discovering new visual possibilities. This engaging lesson supports both technical skill development and creative expression as students interpret Klee’s distinctive style in their own artwork.
