Santapogue Students Build Fine Motor Skills

Second- and fourth-grade students in Mrs. Rao’s class at Santapogue Elementary School recently combined literacy and creativity during a special library lesson with Ms. Ingrid. After reading the classic story “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly,” students discussed the tale and the sequence of events as the old lady swallowed a spider to catch the fly. Inspired by the story, students then created their own spiders with beaded legs, providing a fun, hands-on opportunity to strengthen their fine motor skills while bringing the book to life. The engaging activity reinforced literacy concepts while encouraging creativity and dexterity, making for a memorable learning experience in the library.
