WB school buildings will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 24
As you know, most of Long Island remains under a travel ban due to dangerous road conditions. Nassau and Suffolk Counties, along with our local towns, continue to work diligently to clear roadways. Here in West Babylon, our Buildings and Grounds Department has been actively clearing school sidewalks, entrances, and parking lots.
Due to the significant amount of snow and ongoing hazardous road conditions throughout Long Island, all West Babylon school buildings will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, February 24th, for a traditional snow day.
As you know, NYS waived yesterday’s closure due to the State of Emergency. That means school districts are pardoned for the day/ hour requirement for yesterday (February 23).
No waiver determination has been made for tomorrow, February 24th. If a waiver for tomorrow is NOT granted, I will enact the WB Remote Instructional plans previously outlined and communicate accordingly.
If you must travel today, please exercise extreme care and caution.
I will continue to keep you informed and will provide follow-up communication as conditions evolve.
Thank you for your continued patience and support.
Stay safe,
Dr. Yiendhy Farrelly
Superintendent of Schools
West Babylon Union Free School District
