Students Combine Creativity and Language Skills in English Lessons

Students across the district are strengthening their language skills through creative and engaging English lessons at both the junior high and high school levels.
At the junior high school, seventh and eighth grade students completed Valentine’s-themed poetry using math vocabulary. As part of the lesson, students incorporated figurative language to express themes such as love, friendship and appreciation. By blending academic vocabulary with creative writing, students were able to practice language skills in a fun and meaningful way while thinking critically about word choice and expression.
At the high school, students focused on key grammar concepts, including prepositions, plural nouns and irregular verbs. Through targeted lessons and practice activities, students worked to improve their understanding of sentence structure and proper language usage. These lessons highlight how English instruction across the district encourages both creativity and foundational skills, helping students build confidence in reading, writing and communication.
