Under the direction of head coach Andrea Durbin, two of West Babylon Senior High School’s Science Olympiad teams competed at the Mount Academy Invitational on Jan. 11. West Babylon's Science Olympiad teams have spent the last five months preparing for the upcoming regional tournament by competing at invitationals such as this one.

West Babylon’s Team A finished ninth out of 30 teams and Team B finished 20th. Of the 23 events, West Babylon finished in the top six for six different events, bringing home medals.

Congratulations to the following medal winners:
*Melanie Jastrzebski and Nicole Rex: Fourth in Air Trajectory
*Ryan Znachowski and Gianfranco Cardenas: Second in Bungee Drop
*Joel Colas and Julian Cruz: Fifth in Electric Vehicle
*Addie Eglin and Erin Fider: Fourth in Fossils
*Nicole Rex: Sixth in Microbe Mission
*Lindsey Kutchens and Joel Colas: Fifth in Write It Do It

All three West Babylon teams will now prepare for the Suffolk County Regional Tournament on Jan. 25 at Hauppauge High School. This tournament is the largest in the state with more than 60 teams competing and the top six moving on to the state tournament.
