Students in Ms. Shaw’s English classes at West Babylon Junior High School demonstrated their textual understanding by creating different literacy projects. They started the school year by reading “Freak the Mighty” by Rodman Philbrick, a story of two boys who become unlikely friends. The students then completed one of several project options – including creating text conversations, acting out scenes and describing what the characters were thinking – to show their understanding of the book.
