Elementary students across the West Babylon School District were joined by family, administrators and teachers for National Walk to School Day on Oct. 2. The community came together to celebrate this annual event that encourages students to be physically active and make school routes safer. Guided by their crossing guards, security guards and even Suffolk County police escorts, the walkers met up at a designated location before the start of school to make the trek together. Some schools also conducted a food drive in conjunction with the walk to collect donations for the West Babylon Food Pantry.
