Working in a group of three, fourth grade students in Ms. Murray’s library program at Tooker Avenue Elementary School created a board game called Space Opoly. Students designed the board, cards and spinner. To ensure accuracy, the students conducted research using the NASA website to guide them with their selection of astronomical items on the board. To create the game pieces, the students enlisted the help of Mr. DeSimone, technology teacher at West Babylon Senior High School. Via Google Classroom sessions, Mr. DeSimone taught the students how to use Tinker Cad, a 3D printer software. With his instruction, the students designed and created their game board pieces. Mr. DeSimone printed the pieces at the high school. He then hand delivered them to the students at Tooker Avenue, being sure to leave time to play the first round of Space Opoly with the game board creators.
