Dressed as centenarians, kindergarten students in the West Babylon School District celebrated their 100th day of school on Feb. 26 with activities centered around the number 100.
To commemorate the milestone, students used 100 blocks to create various patterns and 10 different colors to create 100 dots in a gumball machine. They worked as engineers to try and stack 100 cups as high as possible. As part of their math lesson, they counted in 10s to the number 100.
During physical education, activities had students complete 100 different exercises in 100 seconds. Other literacy lessons including writing about what they would buy with $100, what they would eat 100 items of and what they learned in the last 100 days. Using their creativity, kindergartners made necklaces out of 100 beads and designed patterns using 100 pieces of pasta and buttons. West Babylon’s kindergarten students are now 100 days smarter.
