The second graders at John F. Kennedy Elementary School showed off their hard work and dedication to poetry this school year during their author’s tea on May 17. Invited guests came to the classroom to see the students’ poetry displayed on the walls. Each students created their own poetry book filled with the different types of poems they studied this year including Haikus, cinquain poems, acrostic poems, name poems and concrete poems. One by one, the students came to the front of the room to share a few of their favorite poems with attendees. Following the recitations, students enjoyed snacks and tea with their guests and classmates.
