West Babylon School District administrators and board of education members thanked and recognized members of the school community for their efforts at the Feb. 9 board of education meeting. Members of the Suffolk County Police Department, and West Babylon’s School Resource Officer Osias, were presented with tokens of appreciation and thank-you cards handmade by students throughout the district. Officer Osias had supported the students of West Babylon for many years and recently announced her retirement.

Members of the South Bay Kindness Squad were also acknowledged for their efforts to spread cheer through the school community. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Yiendhy Farrelly remarked how she saw the students holding up kindness signs outside of the school one day and it made her smile. Dr. Farrelly also presented thanks to custodian Mike Kuffo and teacher Ms. Shaw for the murals they have created in the school buildings. Both volunteered their time to create the works of art in the elementary school buildings after school and on weekends.
