Joined by administrators, Board of Education members, family and friends, West Babylon Senior High School held its World Language Honor Society induction and English as a New Language Commanding Level ceremony in the school’s auditorium on April 10.
After paying tribute to the Italian and Spanish flags, world languages chairperson Therese Coleman welcomed guests and inductees to the ceremony. Ten English as a New Language students were honored and received certificates for their commanding level of the language.
Inductees for Italian were called to the stage one by one to be honored by world language teacher Gabrielle Hearns. The 31 new members then recited the oath in Italian. World language teacher Erin Solnick introduced the 102 new Spanish inductees, who also made their way to the stage to repeat the oath.
