Summer STEM Study of the Solar System

Picture of Student Making STEM Project thumbnail248783

Students in Ms. Santorelli and Ms. Cacciuttolo’s class at West Babylon School District’s summer Camp Invention joined together for a buddy STEM activity to build a telescope. Students learned about the James Webb and Hubble telescopes and how they help astronauts and scientists see planets up close so they can learn more about the solar system. Students planned out their design and then built and decorated their telescope. After building was complete, students went up to the “observatory classroom,” where they used their telescopes to see and record the planets they saw in the sky.
