Dear South Bay Parents, Guardians and Family Members,

On August 31, 2018, after thirty years as an educator on Long Island and seventeen school years as South Bay principal, I will be retiring.

I will always remember my time in West Babylon as being rich with opportunities to learn, grow and communicate with so many of you who share the deep commitment to working together – home and school – side by side – to provide the best possible education for your children. To the hundreds of youngsters and their families whom I have been privileged to know over these years, my sincere hope is that ideas I have shared, decisions I have fostered, and time I have spent made a positive difference in your lives; because my relationships with you have profoundly impacted my life in so many wonderful ways! While I am certainly looking forward happily to a retirement lifestyle that will allow me to more flexibly carve out time to devote to my own family, I am also eager to discover new avenues to use my years of experience to benefit other educators and their students.

I am grateful to the West Babylon Board of Education for their faith in me and their unwavering support; to the many administrators with whom I have had the pleasure of working, for their collegiality and guidance; to our Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Yiendhy Farrelly, for her inspired leadership; to so many amazing teachers and staff members at South Bay School who made it an absolute joy to come to work each day; to our devoted PTA members for their time, effort and creativity; and to each and every one of you for trusting me to do my best for your precious little ones -- all of whom will be in my heart forever. I will miss you!

Sincerely,
JoAnn Scott
