First Graders Celebrate Thanksgiving Through Literacy and Creativity

First graders at South Bay Elementary School have been applying their literacy skills through a series of fun, Thanksgiving-themed activities. Students practiced creative writing by imagining what they would do if they had a pet turkey, crafting thoughtful and imaginative responses.
They also enjoyed reading “Turkey Trouble” and then used their comprehension and creativity to design disguises that would keep their turkeys safe this Thanksgiving. Their writing and illustrations showcased both humor and originality. Students also read “If You Find a Leaf” and created their own beautifully colored leaves, which will be assembled into a festive holiday wreath
