Safety and Security

Emergency Drills

In recent years school safety has rapidly evolved. West Babylon schools are staffed with trained security guards and staff members who are trained and involved in our building emergency teams. These teams are prepared in the case of an emergency.

Members of the administration team participated in Stop the Bleed training from the Stony Brook University Hospital Trauma Center. Dr. James Vosswinkel, the center’s head surgeon, and Colby Rowe, the center’s coordinator for education and public outreach, sent a team to West Babylon to conduct hands-on training for all of the district’s administrators on how to stop bleeding and use tourniquets as preparation for incidents such as active shooters or mass casualty events.
